If I said the word 'acid' to you, what would you think? You may frown or turn your nose up as most of us, instantly, think of acids as a negative and scary word! This is simply because we do not know enough information on the different acids.
There are TWO types of acids; ALPHA Hydroxy Acids and BETA Hydroxy Acids.
Both are very effective and both are used for different reasons.
If you own a resurfacing mask, it will most probably have at least one Alpha within the ingredients (Lactic, Glycolic, Citrus etc.) These acids wiggle in between the outer layer skin cells causing the old and dead skin to lift away from the new cells underneath. This is a form of exfoliating to reveal a fresh layer.
Other masks or peels may have Salicylic Acid in which is a Beta. This penetrates down through our pores and kills bacteria, deeply cleaning congestion. These masks are great for removing excess oil to avoid acne.
